LOEB DRAMA CENTER A.R.T.

CAMBRIDGE, MA

LA DALLMAN in collaboration with ANN BEHA ARCHITECTS

In reimagining the Harvard Loeb Drama Center at American Repertory Theater, the goal is to make each event more visible, reflecting the theater's vitality and expressing its identity through the building’s exterior. Illuminating and reinterpreting the currently concealed facade displays the activity within and reinvigorates the building's transparency. The existing closed corner opens to provide framed views between the interior and exterior, while a new cantilevered entry canopy addresses this corner. Additionally, the lobby transforms into a gallery for 'theater in the making,' creating opportunities to showcase upcoming performances, new pedagogical approaches, and experimental work.
